  • Subject credits are accumulated and students will obtain a minimum of 360 SAQA credits at the end of the third year of study and a minimum of 120 SAQA credits in the advanced courses. (Prospective teachers require 480 credits for employment in a Department of Education School.)

As the setting for standards for entry requirements on a national level has not been finalised, this will be under constant review by our admissions committee.
Practical School Experience
Practical experience is an essential component of the training and all students are required to fulfill a minimum period of teaching each year. Although students will gain practical experience in various approved schools, we also offer students a practical, hands-on and integrated experience within our unique school environment.

Practical School Experience forms part of continuous assessment and the final examination. Students are required to obtain a pass in the Practical School Experience component before a qualification will be issued.

Commitments Outside College Timetable
Students will be required to attend lectures or field studies outside of normal College hours, e.g. on a Saturday or during holidays. Students who have part-time employment must appreciate that College activities take preference over private arrangements and students are consequently expected to accommodate any such College requirements. Students will receive due notification of such events.

Resource & Study Media
There are instances where students will be required to purchase textbooks. Students will also be required to produce resource materials as part of the course. Printing and handouts are billed to students on a quarterly basis.
